- Slurring words and phrases or running them together is the result of a learned behavior or cultural behavior. In addition, it includes dropping syllables indiscriminately or like a cultural norm. These must be corrected to to converse well and distinctly.

Why can’t we simply put a bunch of SpaceHab expandables into the Space Shuttle and take them to the Mars to orbit now? But you say the Space Shuttle cannot make it that far? Well sure it can. Simply send a set of rockets up on another set of rockets, once in orbit attach them to the space shuttle and then take the whole thing to Mars; one way. Get some real gung ho risk takers and just go for it. We can do this.
The humans can live in them for about 10-years or so until we get there with the next manned mission. Meanwhile they can collect data, do experiments and control all the rovers there. An orbiting mini-space colony flying above Mars and while we are at it, we can have one land on Mars too and get started now. Now in 2035 or some such future date; that is such a crock of crap and such a cop-out to the abilities and intelligence levels of our upper end human scale of intelligence.
Look here is the deal, I have traveled much in my life and I know most humans are not so smart and feel comfortable to live in mediocrity, but that is not what the species is about. We can do better than this and it should be obvious that it is true. Now then do not accuse me of being anti-Bush Administration, as I am not. Do not accuse me of being anti-NASA, because well I am not that either.
You see, I am an entrepreneur and I see the world differently. When everyone else says it cannot be done, I know it can. I am not comfortable with the BS time table of the moon by 2020 or Mars by 2035, that is weak. The United States of America is not a weak nation and Americans are not weak people. Now let’s get off our rear ends and press on and get this done. Talk is cheap. There is a mountain in front of us, let’s just climb it dammit!

Imagine a computer on which you can see your dreams, analyze every thought process that goes on inside your brain and every sense you feel. Imagine that your memory is on the computer’s hard disk. If your entire brain can be mapped onto the computer, your thoughts can become immortal. Seems like a fantasy, doesn’t it? May be not anymore. The brain remains the most complex and mysterious part of the human anatomy.
To help solve this mystery, on sixth of June 2005, IBM in collaboration with EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne), announced the most ambitious project to date for brain research and rightly called it the Blue Brain Project. The project aims to create a detailed model of the circuitry in the neocortex - the largest and the most complex part of the human brain. By expanding the project to model other areas of the brain, scientists hope to eventually build an accurate computer based model of the entire brain. The first phase of the Blue Brain Project which involves making a software replica of the neocortex ( almost 85% of the brain’s total mass) is expected to take two to three years. The next phase of the project which includes simulating the entire brain will take at least a decade.
The Blue Brain Project will make use of IBM’s eServer Blue Gene supercomputer. Blue Gene was recently rated as the fastest supercomputer in the world. It has a peak speed of about 22.8 teraflops which means it can theoretically spit out 22.8 trillion floating point operations every second. Certain computer simulations that require a full day of research and calculations can be done in a matter of seconds on Blue Gene. In a real brain, a neocortical column is a cylindrical element about a third of a millimetre in diameter and three millimetres long, containing some 10,000 nerve cells. It is these columns which make up the famous “grey matter”. The EPFL’s contribution to the Blue Brain Project will be to create a digital description of how the columns behave. The Blue Gene supercomputer consists of enough independent processors for each to be programmed to emulate an individual nerve cell in a column. Blue Gene architecture has 8000 Processors and by mapping one or two simulated brain neurons to each processor, the computer will become a silicon replica of 10,000 neurons. Then scientists will interconnect them with the rules that they have worked out about how the brain functions. The result will be a full-fledged model of 10,000 neurons jabbering back and forth, a simulation 1,000 times larger than any similar model to date. Biologists and computer scientists will collaborate to connect the artificial nerve cells up in a way that mimics nature. They will do so by assigning electrical properties to them, and telling them how to communicate with each other and how they should modify their connections with one another depending on their activity.
After the first phase of Blue Brain Project is completed, scientists will be able to study the functions of neocortex in language, learning and complex thought. When the second phase is completed and the entire brain has been modelled, it will also shed light on other internal processes such as perception, memory and senses. Moreover, by running accurate simulations of brain processes, scientists will be able to investigate questions about psychiatric disorders and how they arise, Scientists believe that autism, schizophrenia, depression, and other psychological problems are caused by defective or malfunctioning circuitry in the brain.
Scientists around the globe have conflicting opinions on what the researchers hope to achieve with this project. Some just don’t realise the gravity of the proejct and feel mapping a brain onto a computer is meaningless. Some academics, such as Roger Penrose of Oxford University, argue that brains do not work in a way comparable with a computer, so any kind of simulation that is built on digital architecture and uses traditional programming techniques is bound to failure. Henry Markram, the head of the Brain Mind Institute, and the leader of the EPFL’s side of the project, stresses that Blue Brain’s formal goal is not to build an artificial intelligence system, such as a neural network but to make a computer simulated model of the human brain.
Well, if the Blue Brain Project turns out to be successful, we could soon be gearing towards a real ‘Matrix.’ The bigger question that we need to ask is: What if something goes drastically wrong and the machines take over the human brain, wouldn’t this bring us one step closer to annihilation?

Will Holographic Technologies be employed to improve our sexual desires? We are seeing an emergence of advances in this area of science right now, with more than enough potential applications; will sex be one of them? The research and development in holographic imaging and 3D virtual reality is getting closer to becoming reality. Soon we will enjoy Virtual Reality on our 360 X-Box in our living rooms. Great, great grandchildren will be about to meet their past ancestors and watch a holographic video. We will communicate in video conferencing with the image of the other people sitting next us, but not actually there. All this is on its way and even more, as the applications are endless indeed.
We know that most all cutting edge technology comes into being in such industries as military, exploration and entertainment. Why would Holographic Technologies be any different? Why would such technologies not follow similar paths with regards to the Human Innate needs and desires we know to exist? Surely there will be the use of holographic images in the use and applications of sexual desire; think on this.

When we train our artificially intelligent robotic assistants in the near future to work alongside of us humans in every endeavor we must also consider cultural roles in national identity. That is to say if we’re building artificially intelligent American robots to work alongside robots, then we must provide the social norms to go along with our culture into training. Nationality in the far off future may be a thing of the past in that each decade the world becomes closer together.
An artificially intelligent robotic assistant which was built in Japan, would most likely be built with cultural norms consider its programming. This of course could be problematic when the designing an artificially intelligent system that would work alongside an American at let’s say a factory, which puts the final touches on a Boeing airliner. It might be quite silly to have a robot slightly bow to the aerospace engineer mechanic on top of the scaffolding; do you see the problem here?
Of course, when working at let’s say the international space station a robotic assistant would either have two choices for programming. One, it could include parts of all cultures of the world or two, it could have one dominant nationality in culture and even an accent to go along with its speech. We should consider that in the future there maybe an android with artificial intelligence or robotic assistant in every single home in America. Whichever country builds the most robots their programming of culture could in fact slightly alter the American way in culture. Thus one could say that in this case the robots are training us, as we are not training the robots. Consider this in 2006.

There is a growing number of people who are becoming anti-technology these days. Recently in a long debate with a very “Pro-Human” individual as he wished to be called; we discussed the possibility that you are either pro-human or you are against us? I laughed and said well I am pro-human. He said well if you are pro-human you must be anti-technology.
That of course is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in my entire life. He was basically calling technology evil and treating the “pro-human” movement a new religion. So I explained to him my position and platform, borrowing the political term.
“I am pro technology, anti religion and pro forward progression of the human race and I am pro-Capitalism, pro free markets and pro-strength of the individual. I do not believe anyone has to choose as it is not an either or, but rather a “both or all” choice and thus we must move forward.”
Why would one be against technology? Technology is good and it gives us all more free time to be more human with. I further said to him that I believed that the more technology we could have the better and I was for promoting technology whenever I could; Damn the torpedoes “full steam ahead” or in this case “warp 10 and lets bend some space time shall we?” If all this means taking some risks, then lets take some risks, stop living in fear and start moving to our destiny.
You see folks, technology is neither good or bad. If technology is used in an evil way then that is because man or those “pro-human” movement people allowed it to be used that way. Technology does not kill people; people kill people. Think on this in 2006.
